What We Know About the 2016 Camaro So Far

Chevrolet is posed to take the lead in the eternal pony car wars with this one, as things tend to improve as time marches on. Like a good wine with age, a vintage car gathers worth and delightful memories over the generations. The sixth generation Camaro proudly takes its place on the list of things to savor. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro takes the greatest of modern engineering techniques, and marries it with the style and elegance one has come to expect from this extravagantly powerful brand. Here is what we know so far:

Refined Interior

There have been two major changes with the 2016 Camaro – the first being the advanced dashboard display. With the inclusion of advanced LCD displays, and powerful software, you can determine exactly how your engine is performing with a single glance. You no longer have to worry about the check engine light – the onboard computer and display is powerful enough to tell you exactly what is going on, before it becomes a problem.

The second major change is a more powerful infotainment system, which now includes 4G LTE cellular connectivity. With an accompanying data plan, you are guaranteed to never have to worry about an outdated map, or getting stuck in traffic, again. The mapping software automatically pulls in data from several sources, providing timely and accurate information on every section of your trip.

Beyond the massive improvements, Chevrolet has made it its mission to continuously improve the interior of all of its vehicles. Considering the premium nature of the Camaro line, it should be no surprise that the premium seats have been considered to be among the most comfortable on the market today.

Exceptional Safety

There is such a thing as a car that is too powerful to be driven. Without the right safety mechanisms in place, it is possible for a vehicle to go too fast for the brakes to even contemplate stopping. With Brembo brakes, standard on the SS model, and now available for the LT model for the first time, every wheel is made out of lightweight aluminum, and is guaranteed to look great when you zip past the 100,000 mile mark. The suspension is also made out of aluminum, reducing weight while still maintaining the strength and flexibility needed to handle any sort of road you drive down, not to mention protecting you in a crash.

A Powerful And Customizable Powertrain

A power train used to be one of those components the average driver never touched, due to the cost and complexity of the underlying components. Chevrolet has decided to make it something worth paying attention to, thanks to the inclusion of advanced design and a user-interface with a truly unique feature. The driver can select four different sounds for the exhaust, in real time. That means you can have a quiet car for heading to work, and let it rip when showing your car off to friends and neighbors (be mindful of noise ordinances!)

This model year also comes with a new 8 speed paddle-shift automatic transmission, which gives you greater control over your vehicle at all times. The auxiliary radiators, engine cooler, and transmission cooler also help improve efficiency and extend the functional life of your prized vehicle. And lets not forget about the most intriguing feature, being the Turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine! Rounding out the rest of your options are a 3.6L V6 engine, 6.2L V8 engine, and a 6-speed Tremec manual transmission.

Well Designed Body

The 2016 Camaro inherits a great deal of body characteristics from its preceding generations, while still making improvements. If you are familiar with the 2015 model, then this year will be immediately recognizable. The major differences being a slightly sleeker and noticeably shorter body, and the inclusion of restyled functional hood vents to reduce engine temperatures (for the V8.) When the 2016 Camaro comes to market, this is bound to be a must-have car.
